Hey guys, your iPhone can now prevent you from having to sleep on the couch

Have you ever gone through the day and noticed that your significant other has been short to you and you cannot think of a reason why? Heck, you even took the trash out that very morning. And when the evening rolled around, there was no snuggling or anything else since you ended up sleeping on the couch. Talk about being in the dog house.

Did you forget that it is your anniversary?

Eventually, you discover that you forgot your anniversary! No wonder the temperature in your bedroom dropped by 50 degrees. And as the dust settles, and you vow never to be caught in this situation again, you hear that the new iOS 27.2 Beta 1 release that Apple dropped the other day adds a new feature that will help you remember important anniversary dates.

In iOS 27, Apple added Call Context, a feature that surfaces important information related to the person you are making a phone call to. For example, if you are calling the airline you’re flying on in the days ahead, your iPhone will browse your emails and other sources of info. If you have an email with the flight confirmation number on it, you will see that number on the screen during the call so you won’t have to go looking for it.

The iOS 27 update included birthdays. You can add that info to the person’s Contact card and when you call the birthday boy, you will see a fireworks animation. The iOS 27.2 Beta added anniversaries and this is how you can load the correct data on a contact card.

How to add an anniversary date to a Contacts card

Go to your Contacts app and choose the name of the person whose anniversary date you want to add. Tap on the Edit button located in the upper-right corner of the screen. Scroll down until you see “+ add date.” Press on that, and you will see a line where you can add an anniversary date. Tapping on it calls up a scrolling date picker that you can use to enter an anniversary date.

You can actually save yourself all that time if you have an iPhone that is updated to iOS 27.2 Beta 1 and supports Siri AI. If you do, simply prompt Siri to add the anniversary date to that person’s Contact card. Supporting iPhone models include:

You can wait for iOS 27.2 to drop, presumably in October, or install the beta version now. To do that, you’ll have to join the iOS Beta Program. Tap on this link to go to the Apple Beta Software Program website and subscribe using your Apple ID.

Once you have enrolled in the program, go to Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone. Tap Beta Updates and choose the Public Beta.

When you call someone with an anniversary date listed, it will appear on the iPhone screen when a call is made. Keep in mind that the iPhone can only remind you that today is your anniversary. What comes next is totally up to you. Make the right decisions and there will be no more spending your anniversary evening sleeping on the couch.
