Sony has started rolling out the Android 12 update to two of its phones, the Xperia 10 III and Xperia Pro-I. This update follows last week’s announcement which said that Android 12 is coming to the Xperia 1 III, and Xperia Pro.

Android 12 is now rolling out to some Xperia 10 III & Xperia Pro-I models

In the case of the Xperia 10 III, the Android 12 update is currently rolling out in parts of Europe. The build number in question is 62.1.A.0.533, and the update comes with the February 2022 Android security patch.

When it comes to the Xperia Pro-I, the update is rolling out in Japan only. We’re looking at the Japanese model here, the XQ-BE42. Global variants are expected to start getting the update as well, really soon. This handset is getting the March 2022 Android security patch.

Needless to say, Android 12 is a massive update. We still don’t have all the details for the two smartphones, but you will get a new Material You design as part of it. The revamped Quick Settings panel is also included, with improved privacy, camera, and so much more.

You’ll get the update in a couple of days, though you can also manually flash it

If you have either of these two Sony models, you should be getting the update in the coming days, if you haven’t already. You can also manually check for it by navigating to the Settings, and then to ‘Software updates’.

If waiting is not an option for you, you can always install it manually. You’ll need to grab the XperiFirm tool, if you’d like to do that. In addition to that, you’ll need to use the Flashtool (GUI) and Newflasher (CUI) in order to manually flash the update.

We don’t recommend you to do that unless you know exactly what you’re doing. The XperiFirm tool is a third-party tool as well, so… it’s best if you just wait, you’ll get the update in a couple of days anyway.
